How to get help: Assistance from Reference Librarian

Ask a Reference Librarian

The reference staff offers assistance with reference questions and citation verification. To place a request for either of these services, fill in the Ask a Librarian Form and submit it to the Reference Librarian. We aim to return responses to your query within 24 hours. Otherwise ring the Reference Librarian to discuss and place a request or visit us in the library.

Literature Search

If you require a more comprehensive and mediated search of the literature, either ring or come to the library and discuss your requirements with the Reference Librarian. If you are unable to come to the library then fill in the Ask a Librarian Form giving as much background detail as possible and submit it to the Reference Librarian.

Training On-Campus

The Reference Librarian provides training sessions for Basic Library Skills, Search and Research Skills for beginners and for more advanced users, Database specific sessions, Searching for the Best Evidence (EBP), Keeping Current with Alerts and Rss Feeds, and Reference Management using EndNote software. These sessions may be one to one, for groups of 6 or less in the Library’s training room, or they can be held in any other location with internet access at TCH. If the scheduled training sessions are not convenient, then contact the Reference Librarian to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Off-Campus Training

The Reference Librarian will provide training sessions on Library Services and Collections available from off-site, Database Searching skills (basic or advanced), Searching for the Best Evidence (EBP), Keeping Current with Alerts and Rss Feeds, and Reference Management with EndNote software,.
