The library is the link between world wide health information sources and its users. It provides quality services and technologies to promote access and interpretation of knowledge aimed at improving the health of people of the Canberra Region". The Library acquires, organises, preserves and provides access to information resources to meet the needs of all staff, Faculty and students in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The Library is available 24/7 to ACT Health staff using their security access card. The Public may use the library between 9.00am -5.00pm Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays, as well:

  • There is no after hours access available to the Public
  • Use of the study rooms, training rooms and computers is not available, and
  • The print collection may be access as required


Any breaches of security will be reported to the security office.

Study Rooms Policy

The Study Rooms may be booked by an individual or a group for study purposes only. These rooms are not to be booked for meetings. The maximum time allocation for booking the rooms is two hours and an individual can not book more than one session a day.

Internet Guidelines

The library is committed to providing its customers with the latest advances in information technology. The Internet, being the vast network of global resources, offers information of any kind, both educational and recreational.

Taking into account the ever-evolving nature of the Internet and the absence of any governing body, the Library policy requires that all users:

  • Refrain from illegal or unethical use of the Internet.
  • Restrict use of the Internet to work, research or educational purposes.
  • Respect intellectual property. Only download information or computer files with proper permissions.
  • Must not misrepresent themselves in order to gain unauthorised access to resources.
  • Must not alter, remove, or damage configurations, software or hardware on library computers.
  • Must not install any software on library computers.
  • Refrain from sending, receiving, displaying, printing, or otherwise disseminating material that is fraudulent, harassing, illegal, embarrassing, sexually explicit, obscene, intimidating, or defamatory. These activities are prohibited and constitute an offence.
  • Must not use the Library Internet access for commercial or personal advertisements, solicitations, promotions, or destructive programs (viruses and/or self-replicating code), political material, or any other unauthorised use.
